Natural Products Discussion Area
- Web page under development

This forum has been set up by Dr John Wilkinson, Director of Herbal Sciences International Ltd, an international scientific consultancy business specialising in natural products (see www.herbalsciencesinternational.com for more details). Dr Wilkinson was an early pioneer of the internet and set up the world first discussion group on phytopharmacognosy in 1995 while he was an academic in pharmacognosy and phytochemistry at Middlesex University,
UK. From 20 members it grew over several years to over 2000 members and received over 10,000 messages until 2001 when it was closed down, due to too many e mails that were bouncing back into the forum. The present discussion group is different from the Phytopharmacognosy group as it is mainly a resource for the natural products industry including phytomedicines, nutraceuticals, cosmeceuticals, phytopharmaceuticals and herbal
medicines, among others. It also based on postings to a web page rather than an e mail mailing list which should stop excessive administration of the site and the problems of spam and bouncing of e mails.

This discussion group is provided free of charge at the beginning but will incur a small nominal fee for a years subscription once the membership has grown.

This discussion area includes topics such as sourcing of botanicals and finding phytochemicals. You can post requests here and see if other members can help you. There also discussions on regulatory affairs, marketing of botanicals and also a trading area for buyers and sellers of intellectual property in the natural products industry. Here you can
post your technology or requests for know how, patents etc.

It only takes around 10 seconds to join and if you tick the privacy box while joining, your e mail address will not appear in the public domain.

We hope you find the resource useful and please tell your colleagues about it and also include a reference to it on your web page, preferebly with a hyperlink to our site.

The more members we have the better it will be come.

I look forward to hearing from you

Yours sincerely

Dr John Wilkinson
